By Bernd
It should have been some kind of omen that the first two times I met
Lynda, I was drunk. She was 19 at the time, and I was 22. And although I didn't realize it
at the time, she had been raped a month before our first date. We moved in together after
our second date, and got married two and a half years later.... (continued)
By Lynda
My recovery began in earnest early 1995. My marriage has been to the point of breaking up
many times over the years and we had even split up twice. Something happened to me on the
first anniversary of my fathers death..... (continued)
We've Started
A Book
![]()
Besides the Relationship Guide I'm working on (see its intro for a list of books that have helped us), we've also begun work on a book that outlines our story in a lot more detail, including our best guesses on what some of the real truths are about life and love, and how they work in OUR lives, and marriage. Some of the writings that we've begun are listed below. Please keep in mind that whatever opinions we state are just our best guesses so far, and that our beliefs are simply our beliefs, at the time we wrote them.
| Bernd's.... It was Good Friday. That afternoon, as I sat in one of the pews at St. Ambrose Church - one that I had visited for answers many times before - I buried my head between my hands... We all believe we know what love is, or at least feels like. We feel it, we fall into it, we have it taken away - and hurt like hell when..... Like many other people, I have a lot of old lies inside me, things I still feel may be truths, even though logically, I know better.... Pain is what we feel when our soul touches evil. Happiness is what we feel when our soul touches love... |
I've also shared some of my thoughts through a
recovery email list. If you'd like to browse through them, the index is below. They are
all my writings only, and any reference to others that I may have had in the originals are
deleted to protect others' confidentiality. Do
or Die |
| Lynda's.... It's been a week since your funeral and I still find myself walking around in a bit of a daze.... I stared down at this shell of a person. His yellowed skin felt cool under my touch... |
Another time, when I was in deep pain and went to a calm place inside myself, this same voice, who I now call my Guide took my hand and led me through the darkness to a big room... |

By Those That Have lived Them
Another book we'd like to do in the future is one of ordinary people,
like you or us, that are going through struggles that give insights about life and love.
We find that personal stories from the heart are tremendous acts of love, and really help
those who read and write them in their struggles to find happiness, and answers to life.
If you'd like to share yours here, and be part of the project, please email us at hansen@nsonline.com. Only first names or initials
will be used to protect your anonymity, and there are no guidelines, other than tell your
story the best you can from the heart.
If you are struggling with ANY life issue, we'd like to hear from you.
The first contributions are below (stories will be shared here only by permission of the
writers).
Donna's Story -
Death, Abuse, and Recovery
Robin's Story - A Struggling Marriage
Julie's Story - Sexual Assault

Ray
C. Stedman Reference Library
If you're struggling with your religious views in trying to find healing answers, this
site is definitely worth a look. Stedman takes a look at Bible teachings in a way that is
caring, and helps relieve a lot of the guilt that others have put on our shoulders in
espousing "their" religious views and interpretations of the Bible.
